The Bone Chilling News

The news in so cold
It is disturbing
It send shivers down my spine

Reporters giving their various reports
Pictures so graphic
Stories so compelling

Children crying
Mothers crying
Screaming people
Bleeding wounds
Chard bodies

Overturned cars
Burnt out buildings

When will this end
What will the outcome be

  1. Wow, I want to know which event your poem references. Is it a specific fire that had a significant impact or are you flushing out the emotions of a tragic event from a random picture? Either way, the poem grabs my attention. I like the quick movement created by short lines. Good job, Linne.

  2. The event referenced the recent civil unrest in Jamaica. Where the police and military had carried out an operation. During the operations, there were fires, killings, arrest. Markets were burned. Children were killed, adults too. The audio and the visuals in both print and electronic media was so graphic. A fb friend of mine took random pics and posted it and I used it to relate. I could not use the other pic or did not want to put anything too graphic in my blog. The smoke in the distance, depicts what was happening in Western Kingston, Jamaica. The Photographer took the shot far away from the upheaval. The military and police went in to "flush out" a criminal element, who is wanted in the USA. They have not found him as yet. An Extradition Warrant has been issued by the US Government.

    Thanks for the encouragement.
